CALIPARI. BIANCO: MARTINO WAS WRONG TO TALK ABOUT FATE
(AGI) - Rome, March 3 - "I am sorry to say so, I don't want to
fuel the fire of controversy, but the Defence Minsiter talked
about fate, and that's wrong. That's not what tjhe
reconstruction of SISMI and the parliamentary investigation
committee chaired by myself is about" said Enzo Bianco,
commenting a part of Defence Minister Antonio Martino's speech
at the commemoration ceremony of Nicola Calipari ("Calipari's
life was taken under circumstances that resemble a Greek
tragedy, when fate prevents the hero from taking the fruit of
his valuable deed", said Martino). "The incident theory - said
Bianco - is the Americans' one, not SISMI's. I support the
request of Calipari's colleagues and relatives to ascertain
truth and responsibilities of something that could have been
avoided". Bianco deemed the ceremony "brief but intense, and
the fact that the president of the republic was there is
significant, not only from an institutional point of view, but
even from a human one. SISMI and the government did well to
name the Forte Braschi barracks after Calipari". (AGI)
