CALIPARI. LETTA: NO FATE, WE MUST ACT TO REACH TRUTH
(AGI) - Rome, March 3 - The theory of fate belongs to the past, to Greek tragedy, "we must now act to find out the truth, and that's what we're foinf" said Cabinet Undersecretary Gianni Letta, commenting the Calipari affair at Rome's City Hall, at the commemoration ceremony. Referring to the words of Defence Minister Antonio Martino, who quoted a 'Greek tragedy' to describe what happened on 4 March 2005. Letta pointed out that "sometimes a little rhetoric appears in official ceremonies. That's what happened this morning, and I'm sorry about that. Sure, divine providence guides the world, but it never clashes with the principle of freedom and responsibility, and the latter forces man to know, and act accordingly. That's what we are doing, and will keep on doing, to do justice to Nicola Calipari and to give his relatives the truth. That's the only way we can honour, with facts, a great State man, a model for future generations". (AGI) -
